Labels: Are Christians politically to the right or to the left

SO it was once said one should not mix religion and politics and avoid them all together in discussions. Here I go!

Today’s world paints Christianity predominantly as republicans and to the right.   Thats an unfortunate label because in my experiences this is a major chasmof evangelism.   Many people who see them selves to the left get turned off of “republicanness in Churches and as a result become hardened to hearing the Gospel as each side takes their stances on various issues and even on the little issues we just look to every opportunity to point at the evils of the other side.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ reallly says…
We are more sinful and weak than we ever dared to admit and…
We are more loved and accepted than we ever dared to hope

In reality, I believe, a person living out his Christian life will be neither right nor left politically. To the right a gospel oriented person will be to the left, and to the left a gospel orinted will be to the right.

The Gospel is not half way medium between the poles of right and left and its not a half way medium between legalistic religion and licensure to sin. Its really a third way completely different from the other two ways.  It says God loves you because of his son dying on the cross and that He paid the price for your sins. Because of this you have the freedom to express yourself and to even make mistakes and to learn from this freedom as we freely look to the Cross of Christ.

In Christ,

I go to a church that worships between 50 and 70 on a average Sunday.

We are divided pretty evenly between liberals and conservatives (politically).

Most of us have been there for quite awhile, and we pretty much know these things about each other.

It does not get in our way when we gather to worship the Living Lord.

In fact it is a testament to His power and will that He draws all these people together, who would not normally hang out together.
